Suicide bomber strikes in Baghdad

Washing the blood off the streets after a deadly suicide bomb attack in Iraq's capital, Baghdad.

One policeman died and four people were wounded when a man blew himself up next to a police checkpoint in the Mansour district.

Witnesses say the bomber was wearing an explosives belt.

SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) EYEWITNESS TO BLAST, HAIDER, SAYING:

"He was running from there and a guard was running behind him and they both exploded -- as you see the damage. He was wearing an explosives belt."

Violence has dropped sharply in Iraq since the sectarian fighting peaked five years ago.

But bombings and other attacks still occur daily as the army and police battle both Sunni insurgents and Shi'ite Muslim militias.
