China registers slower economic growth - 16 April 2009

Latest figures from China's statistics bureau have shown that the country's economy is continuing to grow, albeit at a slower pace of 6.1 per cent in the first quarter of 2009.

Despite being sharply lower than the double-digit growth recorded just a year ago, the government says the $580bn stimulus package is beginning to yield results.
