Gingrich to quit Republican presidential contest

Newt Gingrich is officially calling off his bid to run for the White House. He all but dropped out last month when rival Mitt Romney easily won primary victories in five Northeastern states making him the sure winner of the Republican nomination. Gingrich who is expected to endorse Romney, leaves with his campaign in severe debt.
