Scholars from around the world have gathered in Qatar for the seventh annual Doha Conference on Interfaith Dialogue.

At the top of the agenda are discussions on religious responses to natural disasters, famine and war, including the January war in Gaza.

But in an interview with Al Jazeera's Imran Garda, conference participant Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, secretary-general of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference, said the options are limited for groups such as his to effect much change.

He also addressed criticism that his organisation has not done enough to help the Palestinians.
