Riz Khan - People Power - 22 Sep 08 - Part 2

On this episode of Riz Khan we speak to Iman Bibars, regional director of the Arab World for Ashoka, as well as one of their fellows who has worked tirelessly to improve the conditions of women in Afghanistan.

The power of one to make a global change should never be underestimated.

The growth of people power in the last few years is evidence that the world is filled with people who want to dedicate some portion of what they have - time, money, or skills - to benefit others.

Some of those people engage in a movement called social entrepreneurship.

One of the leaders in the field is Ashoka, a global association of more than 2,000 men and women with system changing solutions for the world's most urgent social problems.

With these entrepreneurs, called "fellows," Ashoka builds infrastructure to support their work and expand their networks.

All this while holding firm to their vision that everyone is a change-maker - entrepreneurs are rooted in their local communities but think and act globally.
