Kofi Annan applauds Mo Ibrahim award - 22 Oct 07

The first Mo Ibrahim award for Achievment in African Leadership has been won by the former Mozambican president Joaquim Chissano. The five million dollar prize was presented by former UN secretary-general Kofi Annan in London. The former revolutionary ruled from 1986 to 2005 and is credited with bringing peace to Mozambique. The award was set up to encourage good governance in a continent plagued by corruption. Barbara Serra spoke to Kofi Annan.
