THE WELL / BUNAR
Text Radmila Smiljanic
Director Egon Savin
The story of the performed piece is set in a small town in Bosnia, but it could also be placed in any other decrepit and rural environment of this part of Europe. The well that has to be replaced with water pipes becomes a symbol of unwillingness to accept the real picture of contemporary world and the spirit of times: relationship between generations is in the focus of attention, as well as those established between a dominant mother and a son, members of different nations, choice of independence and a heavy burden of freedom opposed to predictability and petrified strains of tradition… in a realistically reduced directing, by the means of shading details and creating an authentic milieu, the play – interweaved with comic notes – simultaneously sets up emotional communicability with the public.
