A deadly explosion rips through Somalia's National Theater Wednesday killing at least six people.

The attack comes as the Prime Minister was speaking at an event to mark the first anniversary of the country's new satellite television channel.

Al Shabaab rebels claimed responsibility for the blast.

The heads of Somalia's soccer federation and Olympic committee were killed in the attack.

"I was very frightened when I heard the explosion. There was a huge amount of black smoke behind me. I ran as fast as I could but later realized I was not hurt."

While the al Qaeda-allied militants pulled their fighters out of the capital last August, they have continued to strike targets regularly.
