The Indie Folk Band Pal Sokagi Cocuklari "A Pál utcai fiúk , The Paul Street Boys" gets its name from a children's novel that Ferenc Molnar wrote. The novel is about a group of boys who are trying to defend their playground, the "grund", from the "redshirts", a team of other boys who want to occupy it. The novel takes place at the rapidly developing Budapest in the beginning of the 20th century.

While the novel was becoming a classic, it kept the attention of four young men from Istanbul with its magical aura. They grew up with it and realized that the stories in the novel were similar to the obstacles they were facing in their daily lives. At first they thought this was because of their love for the book, but then they realized it was because of the problems that society was unable to address. After that, they decided to close their eyes and look into the book for the serenity they were seeking. They put the complexity and problems of the humanity aside.

At last, these young men that can only identify themselves with their music, decided to form a band on the 25th of December, 2011. Pal Sokagi Cocuklari states that the music is not regional, it is universal. They care about the sincereness in the music and their music is about love and happiness in their daily lives but they don't forget about the melancholy and sadness around them. These young men don't make music because they're trying to lead others to the reality, they make music because they're after their own reality.
