7 years ago25 views Osteoporosis Drug Eases Knee Pain

Zoledronic acid- Reclast- was reported by Mitchell Zolar in Rheumatology News as being helpful for osteoarthritis of the knee. A 5mg intravenous infusion was given to 31 patients with osteoarthritis of the knee. It reduced pain by 15 points more on a visual analog scale than placebo and also reduced bone marrow swelling by MRI, a common finding in osteoarthritis of the knee. This isn't the first time osteoporosis drugs have been found to be helpful for osteoarthritis.
