Amateur video out of Syria appears to show massive anti-government protests in the eastern city of Raqqa.

The video, which could not be independently verified by Reuters comes as twin explosions in Damascus killed at least 27 people.

Gunfire erupts.

Men hold bullet casings in their palms.

Citizens scramble to help the wounded.

The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that five people died in Raqqa Saturday, including three who were wounded a day earlier. One person was reportedly shot dead by security forces during the funeral of two people killed on Friday.

The United Nations estimates that at least 8,000 people have been killed in Syria since the uprising began a year ago.

The government blames the violence on foreign backed insurgents.
