Writing bios for yourself is fun...you should try it and then come back and laugh at mine. It's just that it's hard to be modest when you're supposed to be tooting your own horn, especially when you cured cancer, invented the question mark, have x-ray vision, and are just generally awesome. But I'll try.
That other stuff was a joke. I grew up home-schooled (I know, laugh it up) which afforded me tons of time to play classical violin and piano and (thanks to my sweet Mom for driving me to all those lessons all the time) was able to crank out a few scholarships for college. In high school I decided all I wanted to do was play Weezer solos with my friend Quinn so the guitar thing started. Nobody believes me now but my first guitar gig was in a church worship band (and no, they wouldn't let me cover ANY Weezer...buncha fun-haters). In college at Southwest Texas State University I did a lot of research and made a shocking and unparalleled discovery: bars are super-awesome. So I dropped orchestra and started playing in them. The last 10 years have been kind of a whirlwind, but let's just say that I've had lots of fun, played with some amazingly cool people (also played with plenty of jerks), picked up enough mandolin, harmonica, drums, and bass to gig on, traveled a bit, adopted the coolest cat ever, learned to knit, got a green belt in Tae Kwon Do, jumped out of a plane, got some tattoos, founded Girl Guitar, and unsuccessfully tried to teach my cat to make nachos. Also I met Dave Grohl backstage once and grabbed his butt while we got a picture.
My current projects are continuing Girl Guitar's quest for world domination, heading up Cover Girl, slinging some keys with the Buddy Quaid Band, being one of Sam Baker's multi-instrumentalist gals, and writing songs about my feelings on everything from meeting boys to hating said boys. Look all those things up because a) they're awesome, and b) I'm not cool enough to know how to include links.
I like whiskey, kitties, bar fights (watching, not participating), funny jokes, the pursuit of awesomeness, and not cooking. I hate people when they're not polite and my weird celebrity crush is Jack White.
