Kiva Simova is a Canadian singer/ keyboardist/ teacher and composer. She directs the overtone choir Auralia in Prague, composing or arranging all the music. All the pieces feature a technique called overtone singing, in which a single voice clearly produces 2 pitches at the same time. All members and voice ranges are represented with this technique in Auralia's repertoire.
Kiva's musical career has encompassed many genres for over 30 years, including pop, jazz, rock, folk, R&B, country, world beat and experimental. She has been overtone singing since 1989. She sang backup and played keyboards with the Crash Test Dummies as a world tour member in '94. With 2 solo CDs, The Ladder and Pulse, she is also frequently invited as a guest to sing improvised vocals by well established artists on records and concerts.
Singers everywhere are encouraged to learn overtone singing via her online lessons, with the goal of participation in virtual choir projects in the future.
