Jo Maultby started her music career busking on the streets of Guildford at the age of 15. After becoming homeless, she had no choice but to use busking as a tool for survival (thus acquiring the name Dirty Scavenger), and it was through many hours of playing on the street that she developed her powerful singing voice and unique guitar style.
As the songwriter for the band, Jo draws inspiration from her past experiences, delving into some of the darker sides of life, and portrays her feelings about these with twisted grungy guitar melodies and emotional yet thought provoking lyrics.
Their sound is dark, grungy, yet uplifting, and have often been described as "mesmerising to watch"..
