Syrian rebels fight back in Homs

Violence on the streets of the besieged Syrian city of Homs.

This amateur video footage purports to show rebel forces in Homs on Saturday celebrating an attack on a military vehicle.

The footage could be evidence that rebel soldiers are still fighting back, despite having been pushed out of their stronghold of Baba Amro.

Red Cross and Red Crescent teams on Sunday began distributing aid in a village near Homs, and are planning to move to other neighbourhoods sheltering families that have fled weeks of government shelling.

The aid workers hope to also gain access to neighbourhoods within Homs.

But opposition activists say they've been blocked from entering so they don't witness Syrian army "massacres".

Another video purportedly shows government forces firing on the streets of the northern city of Aleppo.

The UN says security forces have killed nearly 8,000 civilians in the year-long revolt.

While the Syrian goverment blames what they call 'armed terrorists' for killing over 2,000 soldier and police.
