Caitlin Burgess is an acoustic folk singer/songwriter, born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario. She now lives in Toronto, working and playing music in and around the city at venues including The Cameron House, Mitzi's Sister, C'est What, Holy Joe's, The Rivoli, The Casbah in Hamilton and more. Her first album I Know It's You was independently released in June 2008 and she has since been performing as a solo musician and with other bands including The Sweet Peas. Her influences include everything and anything from Bob Dylan to Pearl Jam, but mostly female folk singers like Patty Griffin, Sarah McLachlan & Schuyler Fisk. Some of the festivals she has performed at include the Red Roof Women's Music Festival, Toronto's Winterfolk Festival, Music on Main Festival, In The Soil: Niagara's Homegrown Arts Festival, Apple Hollow Music Festival in Quebec, and the Indiegrrl Music Festival in Tennessee. Other events have included the FAME movie premiere after-party at the Randolph Academy in Toronto, The Born To Play indie music day at The GAP, and Soupfest in Hamilton. She sings about anything from love stories and broken hearts to childhood friends, living in the city and music's ability to make you dream. Caitlin has been described best by Toronto journalist known as Lonely Vegabond, who at her CD release party wrote, "a waiflike Joni Mitchell-type and an acoustic guitar, holding her own to a capacity room. A singer-songwriter finding fun in her music. At peace with the world. Stories to tell. An endearing acoustic escapade that soothes and moves you." You can buy Caitlin's CD online from iTunes, HMV, or Indie Pool. It is also available in Toronto stores including Sonic Boom, Soundscapes, and the Toronto Women's Bookstore.
