Back on the streets in Yemen.

Thousands of protesters took to the streets of Sanaa Thursday demanding a restructuring of the army.

They want units that defected during the uprising against former President Ali Abdullah Saleh be re-integrated into units that stayed loyal to him.

(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) PROTESTER MOHAMED HAZA'A SAYING:

"One of the revolution's demands is that the army be restructured. It is a must that the army be restructured, and we took to the streets to demand the restructuring of the army as a priority."

They marched to the residence of Yemen's new president, Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi. They say they want an army that represents all political persuasions.

Saudi Arabia and Washington, the target of abortive attacks by the country's wing of al Qaeda, backed Hadi in a single-candidate election aimed at starting a two-year transition during which the military is to be restructured.
