Funzo are a 6-piece Dublin/Kildare outfit, whose unique brand of ska and hip-hop tinged pop music has been winning the band critical acclaim and, aided by their policy of giving out free CDs at all their gigs, a dedicated, international fanbase since the band's inception.
Funzo have performed over 150 gigs in Ireland since early 2009, most notably, Ireland's premiere music festivals, Oxegen, Electric Picnic and CastlePalooza. In 2008 and 2009, Funzo were invited to headline The Pogues' Aftershow Party, where they were joined on stage by Shane MacGowan himself. In 2009, Funzo's song, "This Christmas" won Christmas FM's 'Search For A New Christmas Classic' award, resulting in mass radio play and a live performance on TV3's "Ireland AM", the nation's #1 morning programme.
Despite having yet to make their first official release, Funzo's recordings have received widespread airplay from a range of DJs on national radio stations such as RTÉ 2FM, FM 104, Phantom FM and Ireland's most listened to radio station, RTÉ Radio 1. Funzo have also caught the attention of the national print media, resulting in a full-page feature in Ireland's most popular music magazine, HotPress, as well as being deemed one of the 'Picks Of Electric Picnic' in The Irish Times in 2009.
Funzo are currently recording their debut album and preparing the release of their debut single.
