The duo of James & Amy has existed in one form or another for almost five years. Whether artistic, creative or romantic - the pair seem destined to collaborate. But it wasnt until one fateful gig at the Sandringham Hotel, Sydney, that their Little Victories project was born. James was opening for a friends band when he invited Amy up on stage for a couple of duets. The reaction of the crowd was overwhelming. Musical collaboration was nothing new for James & Amy. Music had brought them together in London when James became Amys musical director, guitarist and harmony vocalist for the European tour and promotion of her Universal Music debut album Uncover The Sky. James too had found success with his first offering, signing to multiple indie labels, releasing the album Second Season in the UK, US, Japan and Australia, and co-writing the Top 10 Australian hit Beautiful As You for The Whitlams. Yet strangely the idea of a duo album was new to James & Amy. Spurred on by the audiences response to their impromptu performance, they feverishly began co-writing and recording their album, tucked away for days at a time in their make-shift home studio in Sydneys inner west. With the album half completed, they took some time off to devote to another project - their spring wedding in Ireland! However, on their return they set about finishing the album with help from a handful of incredibly talented Sydney session musicians including Michael Carpenter (Youth Group, Butterfly 9) and Mick Albeck (Kasey Chambers & Shane Nicholson, Paul Kelly). Finally the album is complete. Little Victories is James & Amys debut duo album showcasing their own take on folk/country influenced by artists such as Gillian Welch, Josh Ritter, Jenny Lewis, Richard Hawley, Johnny Cash and Neil Finn. Little Victories will be launched at The Supper Club on October 17th when James & Amy will play accompanied by their multi-talented recording band and other special guests.
