Peruvians are forced to traverse flood ridden areas in motor boats as torrential rains bring massive floods.

The rainy weather and flooding have caused 15 deaths across the country and affected another 30,000 residents.

Many have been forced to flee their homes after rivers broke their banks along the Andean ridge.

Some say they had little warning before leaving.

"Flood waters came in the morning and I didn't have time to take my things. I took what I can but there are various things floating in my house, fridge, washing machine."

Meteorologists say the torrential rains came from a low pressure system in the Atlantic Ocean bordering Brazil.

Officials are continuing to monitor weather patterns during the country's annual wet season.
