Mirrorkicks are brothers Anil and Ingmar Kamalagharan, Edwin Pereira and Gerard de Waal.
Having formed in South London as Mirrorkicks two years ago, we signed to Fruit Pie Records earlier this year and recorded our self-produced debut album, Mirrorkicks. Previous comparisons have suggested kinships with artists from Prince to The Police and early Radiohead to Soundgarden.
Our Balcony TV performance is a stripped back acoustic arrangement of our first single, Podium which will be released in June 2009. Directed by award-winning director Steve Price at Shepperton Studios, the official video for Podium contrasts incredible high-fps super slo mo footage with raw performance.
Our animated lego video for Lego has already amassed a great online following after its recent release on our Youtube channel. Animating over 10,000 photographs and taking over 6 months to complete, the video tells the tale of Mirrorkicks battle to save their home town from a life of danceless drudgery and servitude impossed by anti-hero Mayor Bones through dancing (and singing) Lego men.
Performing on Balcony TV has allowed us to do something different with Podium to strip it back to its original medium of acoustic guitar and vocals. With videos for On TV, Turning Up, Anything and Be Allowed coming soon as well as a brand new website, magnetic and incessant twittering, video blogs, blogs and most importantly a string of live dates in and around London, we can say (without any hint of arrogance) that were always up to something interesting and exciting so come and find us!
