PRESENTED BY PAULINE FREEMAN
2 years ago two NYC brothers (Alan & Jarrett) relocated to the greener grasses of Irish shores prompted by tales of home from the avalanche of J1'ers that flooded their hometown of Montauk each summer. Shortly after their arrival to the emerald isle they met a young man from Clonmel (Brendan aka Brenny). He had just returned from Spain, having spent two years bringing Irish bred drumbeats to our European counterparts, and was yearning for a musical outlet here. He came, he played, and in typical Irish form - he brought a friend (Colin aka Colly). And so the Irish-American band that is SUDDYN was born. SUDDYN began their rounds of the Irish music scene without further ado their compelling combination of edgy guitar driven rock, broody melodic piano arrangements and soulful lyrics seems to be hitting home with the fans. They released their debut single "Drowning Souls" in February/March. It was a top ten hit for 2 consecutive weeks, peaking at No.8 and confirmed SUDDYN as the Best Selling Unsigned Act in Ireland! "Drowning Souls" even became a worldwide selling ring tone both as a polyphonic and realtone (beware the realtone -- it's a horrific rip off!) "Drowning Souls" went on to be chosen as the featured track by Record of the Day (Oct 4th). Life became even sweeter when SUDDYN placed in the Top 20 of NME's Breaking Bands 2006. Media coverage of the bands endeavors on Irish soil has been extensive and includes glowing reviews from HotPress and Drop-D magazine plus live performances on POP 4, Spin 103.8 Fm & 98 Fm to name a few. They've been lucky enough to have their music aired on the majority of national & regional Irish radio stations in Ireland. Just recently one of SUDDYNS tracks was added to the A-List on Phantom Fm. A welcome invite came from Jenny Huston to feature one of SUDDYNS songs in her MyCoke music podcast. And there's a possibility that Brennys groundwork with our European counterparts is paying off, SUDDYNS music has been playlisted as far away as Germany, Sweden & Slovakia! SUDDYN have played over 60 shows since February in the company of great bands like Boy Kill Boy, Shiny Toy Guns, The Films, Director and The Blizzards to name just a few. Murphy's Live recently selected SUDDYN out of 350 bands to take part in their upcoming band competition. This band epitomizes what can be accomplished with a bit of blood sweat and tears on the battlefield and have won over an army of fans and the hearts of the critics in the process.
