PRESENTED BY PAULINE FREEMAN
dummyRun came together through mutual friendships and a desire to write memorable and original songs. Next door neighbours Phelim O'Halloran (lead vocals, guitars) and Neil Flood (guitars, vocals) had spent most of their 14 year friendship playing and writing music together. In the autumn of 2005, when Phelim returned from playing in bars in New York city, the two decided it was about time they found some people to put a band together. The void was filled by their mates Mark O'Connor (bass and vocals) and Sean O'Donnell (drums) who previously played together in numerous bands across Dublin. They also happened to be cousins.
The four then began, as they aimed to continue, by writing as many songs and playing as many gigs as humanly possible. Over the past year and a half they have played gigs across the length and breath of the country. These included support slots for established acts such as Nizlopi (JCB Song), The Blizzards, Nina Hynes, Joe Chester, Neosupervital and others. The band's only respite came when Sean broke his knee and hand in one week of misfortune!
This constant gigging as well as frequent trips to the studio has led to a catalogue of songs that resemble a sound like a musical cocktail of dEUS, Neil Young, Elliott Smith, Interpol, Doves and Jeff Buckley.
With a single in the pipeline, 2007 promises to be an exciting year for dummyRun as people continue to be attracted to their energetic live shows and original approach......
