When Brisbane's sons Payne Rd first emerged from the shadows in 2009, the last thing on their minds was to cast a shadow of their own. But through their exciting blend of alternative punk rock and passionate live shows, this fiery four-piece has earned their sizeably devoted fan base by consistently electrifying audiences whether playing shows in laneways or live venues.
Off the back of a resounding live act and a successful four track demo CD released in 2009, the band approached Nicholas "Wilko" Wilkinson to produce their long-awaited EP. Recorded at Caution Studios, The EP is called A World in Shadow and will be available through the Kill the Music store, Big Cartel and iTunes from November 24, 2011. To support the EP, the band released the first single, Insomniac, off the album accompanied by the official music video on Facebook, Reverbnation and YouTube.
Originally forming as a power trio, foundation members Phill Mount (Lead Vocals/Guitar), Damien Gordon-Cooke (Bass/Vocals) and Richard Berry (Drums) branched out and recruited Paige Brady (Rhythm Guitar) to achieve their ideal sound. Despite recording the EP, Richard left the band for personal reasons and Sam Neale was given the opportunity to join the band.
Currently unsigned, the band aims to redefine their image by organising an extensive touring schedule to support the release of their new EP. They endeavour to build on their devoted following in Brisbane by achieving that same level of recognition interstate. Their passion identifies them as a band not willing to hide in the shade of their idols, but cast their own shadow on the world.
