ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)

STORY: Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge got cake and flowers from an admirer on Valentine's Day , and not from her husband, Prince William who is currently training in the Falklands.

Kate was given the gifts by 8-year-old Jaqson Johnson-Lynch as she left a public engagement in Liverpool. The youngster presented a cupcake with the words "Jaqson loves Kate" to the beaming Duchess, who had just toured the Brink Bar, a non-alcoholic bar for recovering addicts.

Later Kate greeted sick children with big smiles as she arrived at Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool.

Well-wishers lined barricades clutching flowers and teddy bears as gifts for Kate ahead of her tour of the hospital's burns and oncology units.

Prince William is currently on a six-week mission flying search and rescue helicopters in the Falklands. He's due back next month. The royal couple will then embark on a tour of Commonwealth countries in the South Pacific and Asia on behalf of The Queen, to celebrate Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee.
