The Long Knives were formed in Dublin in 2003 recording a debut EP with Gavin fingers Ralston from the Waterboys on production summer 2003 and a second EP with Pat Donne - producer of Paddy Caseys Amen, So Be It album - in 2004. This line-up toured extensively around Ireland in 2004 with Paddy Casey and Damien Rice and began work on their own debut album, ending the year supporting Paddy at his Olympia theatre New Years gig. 2005 found The Long Knives recording the final sessions for their debut mini album in the shadow of Blarney Castle. Through the magic of myspace Niall teamed up with celebrated American producer Kramer- Butthole Surfers, Bongwater, Shockabilly, Dot Allison, Luna, Sufjan Stevens- who mastered the mini album in Miami, Florida. Kiss You Cursed Seducer was released on Thursday August 2nd 2007 at 4 Dame Lane. The Long Knives are currently promoting their most accessible pop release yet Cheap Wine produced with Rob McLeod at Sonic Eye Studio in Dublin. The Long Knives are gigging nationwide and demoing songs for their first full-length album, which is to be produced, mixed and mastered by alt-rock legend Kramer at Noise in Miami. The line-up features: Martin Casey on bass and vocals, Mark Smyth on drums and vocals, Caroline McGrath on vocals and melodica alongside Niall O' Riordan on vocals and guitar.
