A Boeing employee was seriously injured after becoming trapped under the landing gear of a 787 Dreamliner jet.

The worker was struck on Friday as the Japan Airlines plane was being towed at Paine Field in Everett, Washington.

Emergency workers used a jack to lift the jet and free the worker, who was then flown by helicopter to a hospital.

Boeing released a statement saying it would investigate the incident, and will implement changes to avoid a similar accident in the future.

The 787 is the newest addition to Boeing's line of commercial jets, and entered service on October 26 of last year.
