A look at the dark side

Video released by NASA shows the dark side of the moon hidden from earth's view.

It was shot by one of the agency's Gravity Recovery And Interior Laboratory (GRAIL) lunar spacecraft.

The footage was captured as the craft flew from the north to south of the moon's pole.

It shows the rugged terrain and impact craters caused by asteroids after the moon's formation.

The spacecraft, nicknamed Ebb, took the footage as a test of its camera, the MoonKam, which will be used by students to select lunar images to study starting in March.
