Amateur video out of Syria appears to show a government tank in flames.
The video, which could not be independently verified by Reuters, purportedly shows footage from the anti-government Syria Free Army of a government tank exploding.
More footage out of Douma shows a funeral service. The video comes amid reports that street battles have raged at the gates of the Syrian capital. Rebels, emboldened in their struggle against Assad's forces, are risking heavier clashes and fierce reprisals in an attempt to create "liberated" territories across Syria.
Another funeral service in Deraa. Syria's state news agency says six soldiers died in a single attack near Deraa and that so-called "terrorists" had blown up a gas pipeline. Residents of Deraa say firefights between army defectors and government troops killed at least 20 people, most of them government forces.
On the outskirts of Damascus another funeral. The United States is calling for a political solution to the the violence, and is pushing for action from the U.N.
In December the UN said that more than 5,000 people have been killed in Syria since the uprisings against President Bashar al-Assad began last March. The government blames the violence on foreign backed insurgent groups.
