Protesters in Oakland stand their ground.
Around 400 people were arrested early Sunday morning at the "Occupy Oakland" rally after attempts to disperse the 2,000-strong crowd became violent.
Three officers and at least one demonstrator were injured in the clashes.
Protesters are said to have burned an American flag, broke fences and vandalized city hall.
The occupy movement, which went viral last year, seeks to raise awareness of income disparity.
