"Artist" director wins top DGA award

There seems to be no stopping the French revolution in Hollywood.
The latest accolade for the silent movie "The Artist" was the top prize at the Directors Guild of America awards.
British director Tom Hooper, who won last year for "The King's Speech", handed out the award.
SOUNDBITE: Director Michel Hazanavicius, saying (English):
"Every movie are different, so it's strange to compare them, and to try to say which one is the best, I'm very happy to get this, and thank you very much, thank you very much."
Backstage, Hazanavicius was joined by the film's cast including supporting actress and partner Berenice Bejo and lead actor Jean Dujardin.
Despite momentum being in his corner, Hazanavicius didn't want to jinx the film's chances at next month's Academy Awards.

"They always say it's a long race, and they did the race, and so I trust them, it's a long race. We'll see."
The main competition for Hazanavicius is likely to come from "The Descendants" director Alexander Payne.
On the red carpet, he said there was only one thing a director cared about, and it wasn't awards.

"All a director really cares about is the ability to continue making films."
Amongst actresses attending the DGAs were Jennifer Aniston, who wore a little black dress by Dolce & Gabbana, Helen Mirren in a gold number by Badgley Mishka, and "The Descendants" young star Shailene Woodley, who wore a lace dress by Valentino.
The Oscars take place in Hollywood on February 26 and and all eyes will be on "The Artist" to see whether the silent movie will roar again.
