STORY: Actor, singer and beau to Justin Bieber, artist Selena Gomez, set off a media storm in Mexico City on Thursday (January 26) as she jetted in for her debut concert in the country to promote her third studio album "When The Sun Goes Down."
At a packed media conference in the capital, 19-year-old Gomez said that she was looking for a more mature look for the cover art of her latest hit CD which features writing contributions from the likes of Britney Spears and Katy Perry and 1980s synth and disco influences.
In between spending time with her long-term boyfriend, the teen superstar has carved out a lucrative career that includes a hit Disney show, her own line clothing and a perfume. Now with a third album under her belt, the pop idol relishes the positive influence of her celebrity status.
"Obviously it has its ups and downs and I think the positive things is that I'm able to use my voice for things like working for charities or doing things that mean a lot to me like my clothing line or my music-- that stuff that I've always dreamed to be able to do. So I love been able to have a voice and use it for things that are important," she added.
Best known for her role in the Disney television show "Wizards of Waverly Place," Gomez has also starred in hit Hollywood films such as "Monte Carlo" and made a dent on the Billboard charts with songs that include "Shake It Up" and "Tell Me Something I Don't Know."
One of Hollywood's best paid teen stars, Gomez's lucrative Latin America tour is set to traverse much of the region and includes countries such as Argentina and Peru.
