In Homs, locals scrambled to save a man buried beneath a pile of rubble --- reportedly after a mortar attack destroyed several homes. Amateur video posted to a social media website also shows tanks on the city's streets.
Other video shows Arab League observers meeting with officials in Damascus after witnessing the release of more political prisoners. Thursday marks the final day of the observer's month-long mission to monitor a country embroiled in violence
Arab League nations are expected to meet on Sunday to decide whether to extend the work of the 165 monitors or to pursue more drastic measures to halt President Bashar al-Assad's violent crackdown. Syria is reportedly open to letting the observers stay.
The deadline for the mission comes as protests against Assad took place in Daraa --- where protesters chanted "Bashar your turn has come."
