It has long been considered the diva of all flies and now when it buzzes around it will be known as the Beyonce insect.
The singer has just received the rare tribute of having a bug named in her honor.
The atypical horse fly was first found in Australia's tropical north in 1981, the same year the singer was born.
But wasn't given a name until Bryan Lessard, an entomologist with the Australian government's scientific research organization, officially named the fly Scaptia beyonceae.
So why would a fly be named after Beyonce?

"Well, I guess 'cause it has a big bum."
But she's wrong.
Lessard says the fly's unusual shining golden belly is what led to the name.

"They both are strong. They have a strong presence, they're glamorous, as I said before, and they're quite beautiful."
So should Beyonce be flattered?
SOUNDBITE: Bryan Lessard, entomologist, csiro, saying (English):
"I definitely would be. She joins the ranks of Charles Darwin, Bram Stoker, and even SpongeBob SquarePants, all to have species named after them."
It's unclear whether Beyonce likes horse flies, but she is familiar with the birds and the bees.
She gave birth to her first child, Blue Ivy, less than a week ago.
