Deadly amoebic infection claims second victim

A 9 year old Virginia boy has become the second person to die from a deadly amoebic infection in the US this month. Christian Alexander Strickland became ill after falling into a lake during a fishing camp. Strickland's death comes after Florida teen Courtney Nash contracted primary amoebic meningoencephalitis last week after swimming in the St. Johns River and ingesting water that contained Naegleria fowleri, a rare brain-eating amoeba that usually enters human bodies via the nose.
