ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
Two passengers were rescued at sea after their single engine airplane went down two miles west of Andros in the Bahamas.
The U.S. Coast Guard, partnering with Bahamian officials, came to the assistance of Richard McGlaughlin, 59, and Elaine McGlaughlin, 25, from Birmingham, Alabama, on Saturday (January 7th).
At about 12.15 p.m. local time (1715 gmt), search and rescue coordinators at the U.S. Coast Guard command center in Miami received a report of a downed plane that had encountered engine trouble, according to a press release from the Coast Guard.
A crew then located two survivors in an inflatable raft near their downed plane with an opened parachute attached.
At 12.58 pm (1758 gmt), a rescue helicopter arrived on the scene and the two were hoisted onto the aircraft.
Richard and Elaine McGlaughlin were transferred to Odyssey Airport in Nassau and reportedly were not injured in the incident.
