Observers caught in middle of Syrian protests

Amateur video out of Syria appears to show demonstrators taken into custody by Syrian security forces in Damascus.
The video, which could not be independently verified by Reuters, was purportedly shot Friday.
The sound of sirens can be heard as police use water cannons to stem the violence.
A demonstrator is dragged through the streets and beaten.
The Syrian government has vowed to crush the revolt with a quote "iron fist" after 26 people died in a contested suicide bomb in the capital.
More footage purportedly near Deraa shows Arab League observers caught in the middle between demonstrators and security forces.
Arab foreign ministers are expected to meet Sunday to discuss whether to ask the UN to help their mission in Syria which has failed to end a 10-month crackdown on anti-government protests.
Video from Tafar shows demonstrators continuing to call for an end of the regime. The United Nations says that at least 5,000 people have been killed in Syria since the uprisings began last March. The government blames the violence on foreign backed insurgent groups.
Footage from Damascus shows a funeral service for those who were killed Friday. The opposition Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said four civilians were killed in Homs Saturday. It also said security forces had killed 20 civilians and three army defectors on Friday.
Syria has banned most independent media from the country making it difficult to verify accounts from activists or the government.
