The bodies of two defence volunteers are carried out of a building in southern Thailand. The men were killed during a raid on a factory that police blame on insurgents. They say 20 assailants broke into the factory and fired on the defence volunteers, two of whom died and three were injured. A separatist rebellion in three southern provinces flared up in 2004 and the region has been plagued by almost daily attacks ever since. Thailand is a predominantly Buddhist country, these provinces have Muslim majorities. Lily Grimes, Reuters
