Iran said on Monday it had successfully test fired two long-range missiles during its naval exercises in the Gulf.
Iran was showing it could hit Israel and US bases in the region if attacked.
Iranian news agency quoted deputy navy Commander Mahmoud Mousavi as saying the 'long-range shore-to-sea missile' called Qader (capable) was test fired and successfully destroyed its intended target.
Qader is one of the two long-range missiles Iran said it would test fire, the other system is called Nour.
The announcement comes as tensions over Iran's nuclear programme rises.
Western powers believe Iran is working on developing atomic bombs.
An accusation Tehran denies.
