Iran is now charging that the presence of a U.S. drone in its air space was a clear breach of international law, and it plans to pursue a case against the United States in international bodies.
SOUNDBITE) (Farsi) IRANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER ALI AKBAR SALEHI, SAYING:
"The drone has violated Iran's space. This is considered an aggressive act and it (the drone) is currently in the possession of Iran. We have written a letter to the Organization of the Islamic Conference, the Non-aligned Movement, as well as the United Nations, and Mr. Ban Ki-Moon."
On December 4th, Iran announced it had downed the unmanned spy plane in the eastern part of the country, near Afghanistan. It has since shown images of the apparently intact drone on television, and said its scientists are close to cracking the drone's technological secrets.
The plane measures more than 40 feet from wing tip to wing tip, and carries a full-motion video sensor that was used this year by the United States.
