ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION
North Korea's state-run television KRT on Tuesday broadcast video of leader Kim Jong-il lying in state, visited by his son Kim Jong-un and government officials.
The North's official news agency KCNA said a "solemn" memorial ceremony was held in Pyongyang on Tuesday to pay respect to the late leader, 69, who he died after a 17-year iron rule.
Along with top army and government officials, Jong-un paid respects to his father who lay in state in the capital Pyongyang in a glass topped bier surrounded by the red "Kimjongilia" flowers named after him.
Little is known of heir apparent Kim Jong-un, who is believed to be in his late 20s and to have studied briefly at a school in Switzerland.
KRT said Kim Jong-il died on Saturday after "an advanced acute myocardial infarction, complicated with a serious heart shock".
Kim's funeral is scheduled to be held on December 28. He will be laid to rest next to his father.
