Twitter mob justice keeps racist tram woman in jail for Christmas

Netizens were outraged, and Labour Party leader Ed Miliband joined the hunt. They demanded action from the British Transport Police. West was quickly identified and has been arrested. The Twitter mob rejoiced at this "effective" use of social media. It was so effective that West's address was tweeted and she received death threats. West was denied bail and will spend Christmas in jail for her "own safety." Is this what Twittersphere really wanted? Aren't they just empowering the racists? The objects of West's abuse practiced that English tradition of keeping a stiff upper lip. Has Britain forgotten how to do the same?
