Panama's ex-dictator Manuel Noriega arrived at La Renacer jail amid tight security to begin a 20-year sentence for murder.
His appearance was a far cry from the man once known for waving a machete while delivering fiery speeches.
Noriega turned up in a police convoy.
He arrived about half an hour after an earlier convoy carrying another wheelchair-bound passenger in what appeared to be a decoy manoeuvre.
Noriega was convicted in his absence of murdering his political opponents.
He's also facing charges over another killing in 1970.
The 77-year-old ex-dictator has been extradited back to his homeland from France.
He's been in jail there and in the United States for drug trafficking and money laundering during his rule in the 1980s.
Noriega will stay in a unit specially prepared for him at the prison near the Panama Canal, surrounded by tropical rainforest.
But he's old enough to qualify instead for house arrest.
That decision rests with the government.
