Mille Miglia: Brescia - Roma - Brescia (1927) - The Mille Miglia (Thousand Miles) was an open-road endurance race that took place in Italy 24 times from 1927 to 1957. The MM made famous Gran Turismo (Grand Touring) sports cars like Alfa Romeo, BMW, Ferrari, Maserati and Porsche. In 1982 the Mille Miglia was revived as a road rally event. Now, it's timing rather than speed that counts for the calassic cars enthusiasts from around the world who race their vintage cars, dating from 1927 to 1957. Every May, Brescia becomes the meeting place for the rich, famous car lovers who prepare to race over 1,000 miles (1,600 km) of Italian roads.
