A large semi-trailer truck and a passenger bus crashed head-on early on Saturday (December 3) in Brazil's northeast region, killing at least 33 people.
Police said the truck driver lost control of the vehicle as he was heading down a hill after making a turn on a three-lane highway near the city of Milagres in Bahia state.
Authorities said the bus wasn't registered by the organization that regulates public transportation and was traveling with a permit given by Brazilia's Justice.
The truck was loaded with construction materials when it slammed into the bus, which was carrying sugarcane cutters and passing another truck on its left.
At least 11 people were taken to the hospital, 3 in serious condition. The bus driver died in the accident while the truck driver was hospitalized
