"Portal 2" takes top gaming award

Gamers around the world have spoken.
"Portal 2", by Valve Corporation was crowned "The Ultimate Game of the Year," at the 29th Golden Joysticks Awards in London.
The game is a complex teleporting puzzle fans doubted was possible - all with brilliant black humor.
Colin Blackwood is Marketing member at Electronic Arts, the distributor of the game.

"What Valve put together is a really unique game, puzzle game plus action. Steven Merchant behind the game as well gave it a unique British feel. So yeah, there's a lot of unique things that undoubtedly led us to, give us this awesome win."
Activision's "Call of Duty: Black Ops" lost out on the Ultimate Game title, but scooped the 'Best Shooter' Award.
The game's brand manager Eric Folliot, explains what makes the shooting game so popular.

"It's easy to play and have fun but it's also difficult to master, so you have something for everyone."
Also awarded at the event was Sega's infamous hedgehog "Sonic" with an "Outstanding Contribution" accolade, and the gaming giant Nintendo for its Nintendo 3DS platform that was honored with the "Innovation of the Year" Award.
Nintendo also launched its latest Zelda title for its Wii console, "The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword," that will feature proper 1-on-1 sword fighting and a fresh art style.
Launched in 1982, the Golden Joystick is the world's best-known gaming awards voted for and by gamers, hence adding a degree of authenticity to the event.
