U.S. Defence Secretary Leon Panetta met with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Monday (October 24) on the last day of his visit to the country.
Indonesia is Panetta's first stop in his first Asia tour, which will also include Japan and South Korea.
Panetta has had bilateral talks with his Indonesian counterpart Purnomo Yusgiantoro on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Defense Ministers
The United States is looking to build military ties with Indonesia.
Panetta is due to depart for Japan later on Monday.
