Libyans celebrate Gaddafi's death

After eight months of war, celebrations broke out across Libya with the news Muammar Gaddafi is dead.
National Transitional Council officials announced the 69-year-old former Libyan leader had been killed near Sirte - although details were hazy.
Amateur video that could not be independently verified by Reuters purportedly shows footage of Gaddafi's body being dragged by NTC fighters.
NATO said its aircraft had fired on a convoy earlier in the day - but would not confirm Gaddafi had been a passenger.
NTC fighters fired guns in the air in victory - after weeks of battle to take over Sirte - Gaddafi's hometown and the last loyalist city.

"Thank God they have caught this person. In one hour, Sirte was liberated, in one hour, Sirte was liberated."
In Tripoli and Benghazi - crowds danced in the streets - and fired guns in the air to celebrate the end of Gaddafi's 42-year rule.
