Demonstrators clashed with police in Melbourne Australia during "Occupy Melbourne" demonstrations Friday (October 21).
Protesters had been camping at the City Square site, in the centre of Melbourne's business district, since Saturday (October 15).
Melbourne's Lord Mayor, Robert Doyle, had ordered the protesters to leave the site peacefully, or be forcibly removed.
Riot police, wearing helmets and carrying shields, surrounded City Square after around 100 protesters defied the eviction order.
The protesters were demonstrating against corporate greed, inspired by the Occupy Wall Street movement in New York.
