- The FTSE 100 is down 51 points in early trading, the German Dax is down 30 points and the French CAC is down 50 points.
- Following a good day yesterday in London, only three stocks are positive this morning. The market seems to have lost some of its optimism as the French and German eurozone rescue funds talks stall.
- Copper prices were 3.39% lower while gold and silver fell 1.43% and 1.62% respectively, causing the miners to fall out of favour. Kazakhmys, Xstrata and Eurasian Natural Resources Corp lost at least 3% of their value.
- In economic data, UK retail sales volumes in September were up by 0.6% on the previous month, ahead of expectations.
- Jobless claims at 1.30pm (UK time) expected to show a slight increase to 408,000.
